The Nude Blog

Woooo doggy, wanna know a little secret? When Sacramento women are looking for a boudoir photographer, a LOT of you find me by searching Nude Photography. Since so many ladies are searching for this information, I wanted to tell you exactly how we move through understanding your comfort levels, boundaries and how you want your results to look, to keep your toes cozy & your photos just the right level of spicy to your taste!

We move all clients through an extensive process of getting to know you and your ideal boudoir session via questionnaires, and most importantly, our pre-session consultation, where I ask you two questions that help me line out exactly what kinds of poses and intentions we’re aiming for:

Question 1: How nude do you want your photos to be?

I give you guys a scale to help me understand what you’re comfortable with and like to know two things under the umbrella of nudity, namely, where do you want to spend most of your time, and what do you want to touch on? The scale ranges from totally clothed (think dresses, jeans & a tee), panties and a slouchy sweater or favorite band tee, through different types of lingerie, some showing more skin, some showing more, to our more revealing options, which I’ll explain in more depth!

Implied Nudity refers to you being nude during the actual photographic portion of the session, but the photos strategically hide your lady bits, either with use of your hands, forearms, etc, and most popularly, covering up with our white top sheets. When clients choose this option, we are so mindful about your comfort, taking care to show you the pose we want you to do, and leaving you alone in one of our 4 shooting spaces within our studio, to get mostly setup before rejoining you to make slight adjustments and take the images we’re aiming for.

Topless refers to keeping a bottom set on, or covering the entire lower half of the body yet still allowing your breasts to make their entrance! Many women love the idea of topless but aren’t huge fans of how their breasts have changed over the years, but like with all posing in a boudoir session, we are really pushing to make your girls look their best—so it’s totally worth it to give them a shot if you feel comfortable!

Fine Art Nudes refer to our clients being entirely nude for their set, but we like to make sure you know and understand, we shoot for the female gaze which lends to strategic angles and soft posing to avoid more explicit images. We avoid shooting ‘crotch shots’ and prefer to leave a bit more to the imagination! Our photography is primarily created for the subject of the photograph rather than the end-user.

Question 2: How provocative do your want your photos to be?

Provocation cannot be tied to nudity, in my opinion, because I could pose a woman in the nude, with potato chips and it might not be the most provocative setup, or have a woman in a gown, completely covered reaching for a certain apex between the legs, and it tells a whole story. Bearing in mind I, again, like to know where a client wants to spend most of their time, versus where they want to touch on, our scale for provocative photos looks as such:

Girl next door, we are aiming for sweet & sassy in this! Looking for smiles, laughter, teasing, etc but definitely not aiming for sultry or anything too sexy. All clients end up with laughing photos, because I am a certifiable dumbass

In the middle of the scale, we’re looking at Demure Womanhood. Aiming for less sensual photos, but still highlighting the absolutely perfection that simply comes with being a woman.

As we travel up the scale of spiciness, our next stop is Sensual. This is when we’re posing as if we’re rubbing our necks, closing our eyes, breathing heavily, etc. Definitely moving into the sexier realm of possibilities.

Sexual lite (lol) is the NEXT place we can go. This is where we’re feigning “O” faces, hinting at “self love” with strategically placed doors through voyeurism, cutting off the photo, so you can’t see, but definitely wonder what’s happening below the waist,. etc

Sexual MAX is the final stop on this sexy train, and that is when we’re leaning toward images that are as close to pornographic as I’ll shoot! We’re using strategic angles, acting like all kinds of wild things are taking place, combining nudity with spread legs and “O” faces, and getting really hot in here!

so important to note: No matter HOW sexy you want your photos to be, shooting these photos is NEVER sexual, lewd, or even anything far past mildly awkward. A day in the studio can best be likened to a day on a movie set. I am barking instructions to you before you even realize the type of image we’re aiming to get. Which is exactly why I ask you these questions in advance, your comfort & consent is so important to me that I would never want to accidentally trip over a boundary.
